Outfit and styling get started early and still regularly run tight. The reason is rarely indecision but a lead time nobody mentions: a made-to-measure dress, several fittings and alterations take months, not weeks — and the last fitting sensibly sits so close to the date that no major change fits in afterwards.

The second point is order. Clothing, hair, make-up and jewellery hang together: a high neckline takes a different necklace, an up-do a different veil. Decide the pieces separately and you end up correcting the most expensive one — and that is usually not the hair.

The third part is the trial run, which is the thing most often skipped. A trial styling shows not only whether you like something, but how long it takes and what it looks like after eight hours.
